Manatee County will hold its annual hurricane drill May 26 at the public safety complex in Bradenton.
The exercise will begin at about 7:30 a.m. and continue until noon.
A variety of people with a variety of responsibilities in a storm will be involved in the drill, which involves a response to a simulated Category 2 hurricane.
Islanders, including elected officials, police officers and firefighters, will be involved.
This week, a number of elected officials and first-responders from the area will attend the Florida Governor’s Hurricane Conference in Fort Lauderdale. The conference began May 15 and was continuing through the week.
