Anna Maria postmistress Gloria Kincaid’s last day of work was April 29. The 31-year veteran of the U.S. Postal Service retired that day and her friends brought her a cake to celebrate and share with staff and patrons. Kincaid was succeeded by Linda Shannon — her husband Charles is the postmaster in Bradenton Beach. Islander Photo: Bonner Joy

Gloria will be missed by everyone in Anna Maria, especially those of us who are winter residents. She was always helpful and patient with us when we called from our northern homes to ask questions about renting boxes and forwarding mail. The US Postal Service needs more employees like Gloria Kincaid. She was the best!
