A Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrested a Bradenton Beach man June 8 for alleged possession of a controlled substance.
The man, 38-year-old Christopher Cockrell, already was facing a charge in Bradenton Beach for allegedly stealing a purse from a vehicle outside the Circle K store on Gulf Drive South.
The MCSO arrested Cockrell June 8 at a convenience store on U.S. 41 in Palmetto, where a deputy had arranged a meeting with a bail bond representative who was with the suspect.
Cockrell, according to the police report, was carrying a bottle containing 13 Oxycodone pills. A label on the bottle indicated a prescription for 180 pills was filled for someone with another name earlier that day.
Cockrell also was carrying $434 in cash, according to an arrest document.
A Bradenton Beach Police Department officer arrested Cockrell in March after viewing a surveillance video said to show Cockrell reaching into the passenger side of a parked car and removing a purse, which contained credit cards and a checkbook.
