Alice Domey
Alice Domey, 57, of Bradenton, died Aug. 26.
Mrs. Domey was a member of the Anna Maria Island Privateers and was known by her Privateer name, “Splash.” She operated Splash Graphics in Bradenton, and used her talents and sign business to help promote the Privateers.
Tim “Hammer” Thompson of the AMIP announced this week that the Privateers will host a memorial beach party and cook out starting at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, Gulfside at Coquina Beach in Bradenton Beach. They plan a sunset farewell celebration at sunset at the water’s edge.
“Everybody is welcome,” Thompson said. We are planning an appropriate “sendoff for Splash in keeping with our pirate roots and the pirate way of doing things. We’ll have flags flying and cannons firing.”
Thompson said the crew will fire up the grills and pull some picnic tables together for the celebration. He suggested folks bring a covered dish to share, wear bathing suits and make a splash for “Splash.”
“Everyone is welcome,” he said.
Janice ‘Jeanne’ DiDario
Janice “Jeanne” DiDario, 66, of Bradenton, formerly of Dunellen, N.J., died Sept. 2.
Visitation was held at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel of Bradenton. There was no service.

Mrs. DiDario is survived by her husband of 29 years, Joseph; son Michael Bogdan of Sarasota; daughter Denise Minner of Parrish; sister Joyce O’Halloran of Holmes Beach; and grandson Kevin.
Richard L. ‘Dick’ Dotterweich
Richard L. “Dick” Dotterweich, 67, of Holmes Beach, died Sept. 2. He was born Sept. 1, 1944, in Pittsburgh, and then resided in Lakeland, before settling permanently in Holmes Beach.
Mr. Dotterweich graduated from Millvale High School in 1962. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and received training in mine demolition and helicopter support. He served in Vietnam. He was a member of the Anna Maria Moose Lodge No. 2188. He worked for the city of Holmes Beach in the public works department and considered it his “dream job.”
Throughout his working career, he was a model builder, piping designer, estimator and project manager. He worked at numerous engineering firms and construction companies. A pinnacle for him was getting the bid and working on the launch towers at NASA. He enjoyed many special hobbies and activities, including street rods, artistic works and living a beach lifestyle. His wit and humor allowed him to make many friends.

Mr. Dotterweich is survived by his wife of 46 years, Anita; mother Elizabeth; brother Gary and wife Chris of Pittsburgh; aunt Marlene Miller and husband Bill of Tampa, and numerous other family members and friends.
James W. ‘Hooky’ Hall
James W. “Hooky” Hall, 92, of Bradenton, died Sept. 9. Mr. He was born on Aug. 9, 1919, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late James Oscar and Anna Charlotte (Johnson) Hall.
Mr. Hall moved to Bradenton in 1980, coming from Staten Island, and was an original member of the Anna Maria City Pier Regulars.
Mr. Hall served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He retired from the New York City Fire Department where he achieved the rank of lieutenant.

Mr. Hall is survived by two children, Kenneth Hall of St. Augustine and Janet Martens of Bradenton, and five grandchildren.
Brian James Harris
Brian James Harris, 49, of Holmes Beach died Sept. 5. He was born Aug. 23, 1962, in Knox, Ind. He moved here from Indianapolis in 1995.
He served 13 years in the U.S. Air Force and served duty in Desert Storm. He was employed at Home Depot.

Barbara A. Murphy Joseph
Barbara A. Murphy Joseph, 83, of Hancock, N.H., died Sept. 10. She was born May 25, 1928, in Rumford, Maine.
She attended St. Athanasius in Mexico, Maine, and Simmons College, Chamberlain School of Retailing in Boston. She lived in Hancock 56 years after moving from Maine. She married Irving F. Joseph in 1955, and was preceded in death by him in 1965.
Mrs. Joseph was a flight attendant with Northeast Airlines before devoting her life to raising her six children. She was a member of St. Peter Divine Mercy Parish.
A Funeral Mass was held Sept. 14 at St. Peter Church in Peterborough, with the Rev. Gerald Bellanger as celebrant. Jellison Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Joseph is survived by daughter Lisa and husband Gary Williams of Hancock; sons Irving F. “Chip” Jr. and his companion Ann Marie Dandeneau of Errol, Kyle, Christopher and wife Kelly of Holmes Beach, Brooke and wife Teresita Ching of Brisbane, Calif., and Linden and wife Ellen of Westerville, Ohio, Todd and wife Joan of Hancock; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister Janice Aborn of Hancock.
Kenneth Jens Lohn
Kenneth Jens Lohn, 77, of Bradenton, formerly of Bradenton Beach and Cape Haze, died Sept. 4. He was born Nov. 26, 1933.
Mr. Lohn served on the Bradenton Beach Board of Adjustment and chaired the board for four years.
A memorial service was held Sept. 10 at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel in Bradenton.
Mr. Lohn is survived by his wife of 13 years, Yung of Bradenton Beach; a son; step-daughters Vina of Sarasota, Vera of Gainesville, Vania of Orlando, and Vicki of Tampa; one sister; and eight grandchildren.
Carol A. Rothenberger
Carol A. (Hanawalt) Rothenberger, 68, of Anna Maria Island and formerly of Allentown, Pa., died Sept. 5.
She fought a courageous eight-year battle with cancer. She graduated from William Allen High School in 1960. She was a devoted wife and mother while still having a successful career with Leggs and then State Farm Insurance for 30 years. She retired in 2008 and moved from Bloomington, Ill., to Florida to enjoy her granddaughters.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Otis; mother Doris Hanawalt of Allentown; sons Craig and wife Tina of Atlanta and Christopher and wife Magda of Bradenton; brother Robert Hanawalt and wife Gloria of Emmaus; sisters-in-law Joyce of Kutztown and Jeanne Kushinsky of Metuchen, N.J.; four granddaughters; and five nieces and nephews.
