Voters decided three city commission seats Nov. 8 in both Anna Maria and Holmes Beach, and there will be one new face to go with the incumbents on both commissions.
Holmes Beach candidate Jean Peelen finished third in the balloting with 575 votes to take her first seat on the commission with incumbents David Zaccagnino, the top vote-getter with 696 votes, and Pat Morton with 651 votes. Andy Sheridan finished fourth with 401 votes, while incumbent Al Robinson came in last at the poll with 326 votes.
The top three vote-getters in the non-partisan election won seats.
In Anna Maria, the somewhat new face on the city commission will be former Mayor SueLynn, who finished third among the four candidates with 359 votes.
Incumbents Dale Woodland with 463 votes and John Quam with 415 votes were re-elected. Nancy Yetter was fourth with 291 votes.
Three commission seats also were up for election in Anna Maria. The Anna Maria election was non-partisan.
The vote count in both cities included absentee ballots received by the elections office by 5 p.m. Nov. 7, Manatee County Supervisor of Elections Bob Sweat said.
As in Holmes Beach, the Anna Maria results are not official until certified by Sweat.
The newly elected and re-elected commissioners in Anna Maria will be sworn into office at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, while in Holmes Beach, the swearing-in ceremony is at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21.
