Road work coming to SR 64

Just one day after Easter on April 21, the Florida Department of Transportation plans to begin a three-month long road repair project on State Road 64/Manatee Avenue West that will extend from the Perico Bay Club entrance to Palma Sola Boulevard on the mainland.

DOT spokesman Robin Stublen said the project calls for resurfacing 1.6 miles of roadway, drainage improvements, new curbing, gutters and sidewalk repair.

The project is scheduled to end in July, Stublen said, although weather conditions could extend the time of the project, he added.

Any lane closures will have a flagging operation in place to keep traffic flowing, Stublen said.

The cost of the work is $988,000, with Ajax Paving LLC the general contractor. Motorists are advised to use caution when driving in repair areas.
