One Publix shopper may have found “shopping a pleasure,” as the supermarket slogan implies, but paying was apparently another matter.
The store on East Bay Drive in Holmes Beach alleges a shopper left the store Sept. 1 carrying $307.62 worth of merchandise without paying. The incident was captured on video.
Police arrested Robert Schippman, 48, of 74th Street in Holmes Beach, a short time later in the 5300 block of Marina Drive, and he was taken to the Manatee County jail.
He will be arraigned on a charge of shoplifting at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
