Two Bradenton men were arrested Oct. 27 for felony burglary after making themselves at home at a Holmes Beach rental unit.
Officers responded at 12:30 p.m. to a possible burglary in progress in the 4000 block of Fifth Avenue and found Scott Francis Petrelli, 47, and Guy Vincent Massiello, 58, sleeping on the back porch, according to a Holmes Beach Police Department news release.
An officer awakened and arrested the men without incident, according to the press release.
An HBPD investigation determined the men had used items from the pool, lounge chairs, propane grill, television, shower to the kitchen sink for seven to nine days.
The property was reportedly managed by Edgewater Real Estate. Neither man had rented the unit, according to the arresting officer’s probable cause affidavits.
The property manager reportedly sent someone to clean what was supposed to be an empty unit, but found the men and called the HBPD.
The affidavits reported that the men had jumped the fence in the back yard to gain use of the home and its amenities.
HBPD charged both men with third-degree felony burglaries to a structure, and booked them in the Manatee County jail.
Supervised release is recommended for both men, according to the 12th Judicial Circuit Court pre-trial investigations.
The court pre-trial investigation report for Massiello indicated a prior criminal history in Maryland.
In Petrelli’s case, a criminal history before 2004 was noted in the pre-trial investigator’s report.
At press time the men were being held at the jail, Massiello on a $1,500 bond and Petrelli, a $3,000 bond.
