A rash of broken windows from BB-gun projectiles hit some Holmes Beach businesses and homes in December.
According to Holmes Beach Police Department reports released Dec. 29, two businesses and several homeowners reported $3,100 in shattered glass windows and doors to homes, stores and vehicles.
“We didn’t hear anything and didn’t see anything,” said Bruce Lipskind of Key Royale Drive, who estimated the shooting occurred between 6:30-10 p.m. Dec. 12. Other reports give varying timeframes between Dec. 12 and Dec. 14.
“I don’t know who or why,” said Mary Heinz, also of Key Royale Drive.
Three storefront windows requiring $1,000 in repairs were shattered at Egret’s Landing.
At A Paradise Realty, 5201 Marina Drive, two windows were shot out. Replacement cost was estimated at $400.
In the 600 block of Key Royale Drive, a resident reported a vehicle parked on the roadway facing south was dented by pellets, causing about $500 damage.
Another resident in the 600 block reported a car window shattered. The vehicle also was parked facing south, according to an HBPD report.
At another home on the same block, a glass door valued at $600 was shot. A silver-colored BB was found next to the glass.
In the 3700 block of Fourth Avenue, another glass door of the same value was shattered, and several BBs were found on the ground in front of the door.
Police took photographs of the damage at the various locations. According to HBPD on Dec. 31, the incidents are under investigation.
