Spectators cheered as Bradenton resident Michael Lamb set a new Dolphin Dash 5k record Jan. 10 with a 16:20 course time.
The 180 participants in the Anna Maria Elementary-Parent Teacher Organization 5k run raced across Gulf Drive in Holmes Beach to Second Avenue West and down Holmes Boulevard before making the turn back to AME, 4700 Gulf Drive. The 5k race began at 8 a.m. at AME.
Lamb took top honors as the overall winner of the 5k and overall champion. Middleville, Michigan, resident Landon Potts came in second with a 16:40 time, while Corey Peyeik of Sarasota finished as the third overall male at 17:16.
Kristin Coyner of Bradenton crossed the finish line in 20 minutes and 1 second to claim first place overall female. Bradenton’s Rae Ann Reid came in second place with a 20:33 time and Meagan Deslavrier, also of Bradenton, finished as the third overall female at 21:20.
Other 5k winners include Chase J. Chasis, who finished first in the boys 9-years-and-under division with first-place girls going to Haley Roberts. Trenton Johnson finished first among boys 10-12 years old with Kyliana McMillan finishing first for the girls.
The 1-mile run kicked off at 9 a.m. Participants raced across Gulf Drive to Second Avenue and to 52nd Street and the beach before turning around to finish the course at AME. All participants in the 1-mile fun run received a blue ribbon at the finish line.
After both races were completed, participants and spectators gathered at AME for refreshments, raffle prizes and an awards ceremony. Raffle prizes included road identification bracelets, Runner Girl running shirts and restaurant gift certificates.
