Michigan man charged with DUI

At Cortez Road West near 115th Street, a Michigan man was stopped for speeding and also was found to be driving impaired.

Blake E. Barczyk, 30, of Troy, was arrested Jan. 17 by a Manatee County Sheriff’s deputy on the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol after the deputy observed Barczyk traveling 55 mph in a 35-mph zone.

After pulling him over, the deputy noticed Barczyk’s blurry eyes, slurred speech and divided attention.

Barczyk allegedly failed field sobriety tests and gave two breath samples, measuring 0.228 and 0.191. The legal blood-alcohol level is 0.08. He was booked at the Manatee County jail, posted a $500 bond and was released the same day.

Barczyk ’s court arraignment is set at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
