A man who allegedly chased a woman with a metal object at a Bradenton Beach dock was arrested for a felony assault.
Robert C. Case, 32, of Bradenton, was arrested at about 5 a.m. Feb. 25 on the aggravated assault charge after the victim told police she was afraid for her life.
The Bradenton Beach Police Department was dispatched at about 2:30 a.m. Feb. 25 to the dinghy dock in the 100 block of Bridge Street where an allegedly intoxicated Case told the officer he’d lent a woman a car battery for her boat and he wanted it back. The officer advised Case it was a civil matter and to sleep it off. Case rowed back to his boat, according to the report.
BBPD later took a complaint from the woman, and she told police Case chased her with a metal shank or knife, yelling obscenities.
With the U.S. Coast Guard’s assistance, BBPD boarded Case’s boat, found Case screaming and arrested him.
He was transported to Manatee County jail. Case posted $1,500 bond and was released.
His arraignment is set for March 27 at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
