The scene at City Pier Park turned dark April 1 as residents emerged from the shadows to worship the “Almighty Anna Maria Crow.”
“All hail the Crow,” they chanted.
Mayor Stan MacMurphy headed the festivities.
“All hail the Crow,” MacMurphy said. “Tonight we raise our chalices of mead to the heavens and praise the eternal dark of the almighty crow.”
Dressed as the Norse god, MacMurphy led the crowd in singing the song of the black crow. Residents and visitors swayed back and forth to the beat.

As the evening drew to an end and MacMurphy finished the ritual over the dead trees of “Dead Tree Park.” Once they were sanctified, a trio Santa DeSoto Raiders invaded from the dilapidated town pier and carried off a few of the island’s younger residents.
As per tradition the taken will never be heard of again until they raid their former homes to continue the cycle.
