Bradenton Beach candidate contributions reported

Island Time Lodge, LLC, 111 Gulf Drive S., Bradenton Beach, donated $1,000 to the campaign of Bradenton Beach Vice Mayor Jack Clarke, according to records on the Manatee County Supervisor of Elections website.

No one else has contributed to the campaigns of Clarke or Mayor Bill Shearon, who face a May 19 showdown recall election. They are vying to serve the remaining five-plus months of Shearon’s two-year term, if he is recalled on the same ballot.

Island Time Lodge owner Bill Herlihy said May 1 that he thinks Clarke would be a “terrific” mayor.

“I think he’s going to move it in the right direction,” Herlihy said of the city. “There’s been a lot of turmoil that’s got to end.”

Clarke donated $1,000 to his own campaign. Shearon donated $400 to his. Clarke has spent $1,286.28, while Shearon has spent $96, the basic filing fee.

Meanwhile, the Committee to Recall William Shearon reports no monetary contributions, a $12 in-kind contribution from committee chair Pete Barreda, and no expenditures or distributions since Jan. 1.
