A Holmes Beach man — already on probation for stealing tools — pleaded no contest to pawn charges and was sentenced to a residential drug program.
Matthew J. Burnett, 34, was charged with four counts of defrauding a pawnbroker in connection with a March 8 arrest for pawning tools belonging to LaPensee Plumbing & Pools of Holmes Beach.
His April 2 plea included two years drug-offender probation to run concurrent with probation ordered in his 2013 and 2014 cases.
The Holmes Beach Police Department had arrested Burnett in September 2014 in connection with missing tools valued at $5,000 from a work truck he’d been assigned.
Twelfth Circuit Court Chief Judge Andrew Owens ordered Burnett to the Orlando Bridge residential substance abuse program and, upon his completion, to report to the Manatee County Drug Court and his probation officer.
He also ordered Burnett to pay $1,417 in court costs, $100 for the prosecutor and $200 for Manatee County Sheriff’s Office investigative costs, plus state supervision costs.
