Bradenton Beach deputy clerk Audra Lanzaro resigned June 22. In her resignation letter, Lanzaro said the environment at city hall made it difficult to continue her employment.
She wrote that she made the decision to leave in the best interests of her health and happiness.
“I didn’t see a future there or a place that I could be happy,” Lanzaro said.
She also said she couldn’t stand behind the recent changes in staff and politics at the city.
Lanzaro declined to elaborate.
Bradenton Beach Mayor Jack Clarke said Lanzaro was a valued employee and her announcement came as a surprise.
After Lanzaro delivered her letter, Clarke relieved of her duties.
He said, “As with any other termination of any type, it was in the best interest of the city for Ms. Lanzaro to leave at her earliest convenience.”
She had planned her last day to be July 3.
“I didn’t want there to be any hard feelings and I wanted it to be smooth transition for whoever took over for me,” Lanzaro said.
Lanzaro started working as a deputy clerk in September 2011.
