A Sarasota woman was sentenced to 18 months probation for fighting in January with Holmes Beach police officers after being stopped for a hit-and-run on Key Royale.
Jeanna M. Gibson, 27, had faced 10 years on two second-degree felonies, battery to a police officer and resisting arrest with violence, as well as a misdemeanor count of leaving the scene of a crash.
In a plea accepted June 15 by 12th Circuit Judge Diana Moreland, Gibson’s conviction on all charges will be withheld pending her successful probation.
According to HBPD reports, officers approached Gibson Jan. 17 in a vehicle suspected in a hit-and-run outside a Marina Drive restaurant.
There, Gibson fought with HBPD officers and kicked HPBD Officer Steve Ogline in the face.
Gibson’s sentence includes a substance-abuse evaluation, a one-day anger management course, a letter of apology to Ogline, $100 for prosecution costs, $200 to HBPD for costs and $355 in court costs.
