The 12th Judicial Circuit Office of the State Attorney declined to file a formal charge for a reported mid-January break-in and attack in Holmes Beach.
Holmes Beach Police Department arrested Steven LaParl for burglary with a battery after he allegedly kicked down a neighbor’s door and hit the neighbor. The incident occurred in the 6300 block of Holmes Boulevard.
The victim told the state LaParl mistook him for another person, according to a memo written by Assistant State Attorney Justin Phillips.
The memo also stated the victim refused to testify and there were no other witnesses to the altercation to prove the burglary-battery charge.
