The Florida Department of Transportation issued these alerts for motorists driving in the area:
• SR 789/Gulf Drive from SR 684/Cortez Road West northbound to SR 64/Manatee Avenue West: Various locations will close 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., through Friday, Sept. 11. Florida Power and Light crews will be tying in existing power lines to new power poles.
SR 789 from the Longboat Key Bridge to 13th Street South: Crews are sweeping the bike lanes. Expect intermittent north and southbound lane closures 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 25-Sept. 2.
SR 64 at the Anna Maria Island Bridge: Crews are working on the bridge. Expect nighttime/overnight single-lane closures 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Daytime sidewalk closures are also required. One sidewalk will remain open at all times. Coastal Marine Construction is the contractor. Expected completion is fall 2015.
