A 25-year-old homeless man was arrested after a boat owner reported a suspicious dinghy attached to his boat in the Bradenton Beach anchorage area at the southeast end of Bridge Street.
Bradenton Beach Police Department responded at 10 a.m. Aug. 15 and found a man and a woman sleeping on the boat.
BBPD arrested James Andrew Bostick with the assistance of Manatee County Sheriff’s Office marine unit and initially charged him with a felony burglary to an unoccupied residence.
At Bostick’s first court appearance, 12th Circuit Judge Gilbert Smith Jr. entered an order finding no probable cause for the charge of burglary and probable cause for a trespass.
According to the BBPD report, Bostick allegedly told police a man who worked for the boat owner gave him permission to use the boat.
Police also took custody of the woman. She was released after she told police she was drunk the night before, couldn’t get a ride home and went with Bostick to the boat, according to the police report.
Bostick was transported to the Manatee County jail and was released after posting a $500 bond and entering a pre-trial services agreement.
His arraignment is set for Sept. 18 at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
