A 37-year-old Holmes Beach man was arrested for carrying a concealed firearm following a traffic stop in the 4500 block of Gulf Drive in Holmes Beach.
Holmes Beach police arrested Jacob David Smith at 5 p.m. Sept. 3 on a suspended driver’s license and order to seize the vehicle’s tag. Loaded handguns were found under the driver’s seat and in the glove box, according to the HBPD report.
HBPD Sgt. Brian Copeman first observed Smith’s pickup truck traveling at high rate of speed through the Regions Bank parking lot onto 39th Street and called for backup, according to the report. Chief Bill Tokajer and Officer Henry Frappier responded.
During the traffic stop, Smith allegedly consented to a search of the vehicle, telling the officers they’d find firearms and he did not have a concealed weapons permit.
He was transported to the Manatee County jail, posted a $1,620 bond and was released pending an Oct. 2 arraignment at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
