Case closed.
William J. Cumber — facing trial in November for the second-degree murder of Sabine Musil-Buehler — entered a plea agreement in court Oct. 15 during an unscheduled appearance.
As part of the agreement, Cumber was escorted to 81st Street in Holmes Beach, where he directed law enforcement to the site where he said he buried Musil-Buehler’s body.
Musil-Buehler had been missing since Nov. 4, 2008.
At the time of her disappearance, she and Cumber were in a relationship and living together on Magnolia Avenue in Anna Maria.
Cumber was the lead suspect in her death and in an arson fire Nov. 16, 2008, at Haley’s Motel in Holmes Beach. The motel was co-owned and operated by Musil-Buehler and her estranged husband, Tom Buehler.
The motel, still owned by Buehler, is at 8102 Gulf Drive, within a block of the beachfront that Cumber identified to search for the body.
The search for Musil-Buehler’s body, as of Oct. 15, was underway on the beach among the sea oats near a small pavilion.
