The Florida Department of Transportation issued these alerts for the week of Oct. 12:
• SR 789/Gulf Drive from SR 684/Cortez Avenue West northbound to SR 64: Various locations will close 9 a.m.-4 p.m. through Friday, Oct. 16, for crews to connect existing power lines to new power poles.
• SR 789 from the Longboat Key Bridge to 13th Street South: Crews are edging and sweeping the bicycle lanes through Tuesday, Oct. 13.
• Various locations on State Road 684: Crews are making concrete repairs through mid-November and trimming trees through the end of October.
Also, be on alert to the posted speed limits on Anna Maria Island, especially in Holmes Beach. The police department is testing limits of 25 mph and the DOT lowered the speed limit on State Road 64/Manatee Avenue west of the Anna Maria Island Bridge to East Bay Drive to 35 mph.
