Mainsail Lodging and Development’s Waterline Marina Resort and Beach Club will begin construction Thursday, Oct. 15, with a ground-breaking ceremony.
Holmes Beach Mayor Bob Johnson, Mainsail president Joe Collier and Ed Chiles, local restaurateur and limited partner in the development, are expected to attend.
The $30 million project is promoted as Anna Maria Island’s only full-service hotel. Once completed, Waterline will feature 37 two-bedroom, 1,100 square-feet suites, a 50-slip full-service marina, a gazebo for weddings, exclusive beach access and a pool with views of the marina. A restaurant, lounge and poolside bar also are planned.
The resort is expected to open late summer 2016. It was first proposed in 2001 as the Tidemark Lodge.
The development is at the former site of Pete Reynard’s Yacht Club Restaurant at 5325 Marina Drive, Holmes Beach.
Construction will take place in two phases. The first phase will be grading the site, setting up on-site utilities, paving and drainage work and laying the foundations for buildings. Building framing, installation of electrical and plumbing work and roofing also will take place.
The second phase, scheduled to start in March 2016, finishes the building construction and interiors, landscaping, pool and pool deck and parking areas.
The contractor is Mainstay Construction LLC of Tampa.
