Charles Knopp
Charles Knopp, 90, of Anna Maria Island and formerly of Charlestown, Rhode Island, and New City, New York, died Sept. 25.
He was born Aug. 3, 1925, in Philadelphia and spent part of his childhood in Germany.
He attended Brooklyn Technical High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942. His tour of duty in the Pacific was aboard the USS Owen. For the next 20 years, Mr. Knopp was employed by Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River, New York, and then became a self-employed carpenter and cabinetmaker.
In retirement, he continued to build furniture for family, friends and charities.
He married Jean Whitten Oct. 16, 1948, and they enjoyed many family camping trips and travel to Europe over the years.
A service will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at Roser Memorial Community Church, 512 Pine Ave., Anna Maria. A reception will follow at the Shell Point Clubhouse, 6300 Flotilla Drive, Holmes Beach. Donations may be made to Roser Memorial Community Church, 512 Pine Ave., Anna Maria.
He is survived by wife Jean; children Laurie Brussow, Ray, Barbara Kanner, David and Karlyn Tabb; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Kimberly Ann Wilson
Kimberly Ann Wilson, 56, of Perico Island, died June 25. She was born April 25, 1959, in Pasadena, California.
She moved to Perico Island from Anna Maria Island and had a deep love for the beauty and tranquility of the place. She owned Woof ’n’ Whiskers Pet Sitting and was the prior owner of Restless Natives gift shop on Marina Drive in Holmes Beach.
She was an ambassador for the Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce for several years and an avid kayaker.
No services were held.
She is survived by daughter Kristin of Perico Island and grandson Kayden, who was born a week before her passing.
