Holmes Beach Police Chief Bill Tokajer is reminding builders that commercial construction is prohibited on city holidays.
One such holiday is Thanksgiving, which is celebrated Thursday, Nov. 26, and on the day after Thanksgiving.
A notice from the chief said commercial construction activities, operation of construction equipment and commercial lawn care activities are prohibited on New Year’s day, Presidents’ Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans’ Day, Thanksgiving day, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Christmas day.
The first violation of the ordinance draws a warning. A second violation within a year draws a $250 fine.
