A 36-year-old Holmes Beach woman was arrested for driving impaired after almost rear-ending a police vehicle.
Michol Marie Bugel was arrested at 3:08 a.m. Oct. 31 following a near-miss in the 2500 block of Gulf Drive.
While Officer Alan Bores was in his patrol vehicle talking to HBPD Sgt. Brian Copeman, Copeman yelled “watch out.” Bores then drove vehicle forward to prevent Bugel’s SUV from hitting his vehicle.
Bores next conducted a traffic stop on the motorist.
Bugel refused orders to roll down her driver’s side window and get out of the vehicle.
Bores noticed Bugel had red, watery eyes and smelled of alcohol. She failed to finish field sobriety tests and, after her arrest and transport to Manatee County jail, Bugel refused to submit a breath sample.
She posted $500 bond and was released.
Bugel’s arraignment is set for Dec. 2 at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
