Bradenton Beach man sentenced to 120 days in jail for theft

A 46-year-old man who resided on a boat at the Bradenton Beach waterfront near the city pier was sentenced to 120 days in Manatee County jail for stealing groceries and beer from Publix Super Market in Holmes Beach.

Through a court-appointed attorney, Everett Hodapp pleaded no contest Dec. 9 and entered an open plea on two counts of felony theft.

Twelfth Judicial Circuit Judge Deno Economou adjudicated Hodapp’s guilt on both counts, meted out the jail sentence with credit for time served and ordered him to pay $718 in court costs.

A trial for Hodapp’s 55-year-old alleged partner-in-crime, George Webster, is set for April 2016.

Holmes Beach Police Department arrested the two men Aug. 24 and Aug. 25 after they left Publix, 3900 E. Bay Drive.

According to court records, Hodapp’s prior convictions include thefts in Manatee and Orange counties in 2005 and 2007.

Webster was convicted of thefts in 1994 and 2011.

Webster’s next court date will be a March 29 docket sounding at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
