A Holmes Beach man arrested for carrying a firearm while driving on a suspended license pleaded no contest to the license offense.
Twelfth Judicial Circuit Judge Susan B. Maulucci found Jacob David Smith, 37, guilty Oct. 15 of the second-degree misdemeanor after the prosecutor dropped the felony charge of carrying a concealed firearm.
Holmes Beach Police Department arrested Smith in September after an officer observed him driving a vehicle through the Regions Bank parking lot in the 4500 block of Gulf Drive at a high rate of speed and determined he was driving on a suspended driver’s license.
According to the HBPD report, officers found loaded handguns under the driver’s seat and in the glove box and determined Smith had no permit for the guns.
Smith was ordered to pay $373 in court costs by Dec. 15.
