Clancy patrons cold-plunge for cause

The eighth annual Shamrock Shiver — an event put on Jan. 1 by Clancy’s Irish Sports Pub & Grill on Cortez Road in Bradenton — at Cortez Beach in Bradenton Beach benefits Caring for Children Charities. Taking the plunge are 102 people, who raised $22,730, according to Rayma Stowe, Clancy’s owner. The nonprofit, which helps children in Manatee and Sarasota counties, is an arm of the Florida Winefest & Auction. Other charities that benefit include Every Child, the Early Learning Coalition, Feeding Empty Little Tummies, HOPE Family Services, Take Stock in Children and Turning Point. Islander Photo: Tal Reeve
