The U.S. District Court sentencing for a former Anna Maria Island real estate agent has been postponed until March 1.
Michael Carleton pleaded guilty in October 2015 to a mail fraud scheme that bilked more than $200,000 from vacationers seeking accommodations.
The sentencing extension was granted in December on a request from Carleton’s court-appointed attorney.
Carleton faces a maximum of 20 years in prison, $250,000 fine and $100 assessment.
The former agent overbooked rental properties and refused to refund deposits to some 70 people between April 2012 and July 2013 and has been free on a $200,000 signature bond since turning himself into authorities after his Sept. 1, 2015, indictment.
Carleton’s hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, in courtroom 15A, U.S. Courthouse, 801 Florida Ave., Tampa.
