The Holmes Beach building department wants to recover a computer tablet valued at $800 that was taken in a burglary at the Palmetto residence of a city plans examiner/building inspector.
Bruce Sherman, the Holmes Beach employee, reported the tablet stolen Jan. 9 from his residence in the 7200 block of 54th Terrace East, according to Manatee County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Building superintendent Jim McGuinness said Jan. 20 he was aware of the report and was waiting to hear about “a possible recovery” before ordering another computer for Sherman.
According to city human resources analyst Mary Buonagura, the inspector uses the city tablet while in the field to relay his comments into the building department software program.
