Holmes Beach police arrested a motorist in a parked black Nissan pickup truck for driving under the influence.
William Nims, 48, of Sarasota, was arrested at 11:23 p.m. Feb. 5 after Holmes Beach Police Officer Alan Bores found him parked on a sidewalk and asleep behind the wheel, according to the HBPD report.
Bores knocked on the driver’s side window three times to awaken the man in the driver’s seat. Nims allegedly told Bores he believed he was in Sarasota. Two empty beer cans were found behind the passenger’s seat.
After observing signs of impairment, Bores administered field sobriety tests and transported Nims to the Manatee County jail, where he provided breath samples measuring 0.201 and 0.206 blood-alcohol content. The legal limit is 0.08 BAC.
Nims also was ticketed for the improper stop on the sidewalk and open container. He posted a $500 bond and was released.
His arraignment is set for March 9 at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
