The Holmes Beach Police Department is investigating leads in a theft of nearly $800 from a restaurant.
A surveillance camera recorded the suspect at about 4:30 a.m. Feb. 29 entering the safe at Tortilla Bay Southwest Grille in the Island Shopping Center, 5318 Marina Drive, according to an HBPD report.
Detective Sgt. Brian Hall said the suspect had small feet, wore a bracelet, was “pretty well covered up” and is thought to be a former employee or an associate of an employee who entered the restaurant with a key. There were no signs of forced entry.
Tortilla Bay owner Zoe Witcomb is hoping someone comes forward to ID the thief. She reached out on Facebook with photos from the security camera in the hope someone will recognize the intruder by his or her clothing and a bracelet, visible on the right arm.
