Drug court move for Sarasota man arrested for pills, marijuana

A 23-year-old Sarasota man arrested in Holmes Beach has been ordered to report to Manatee County Drug Court.

Nicholas Rattelade was released on his own recognizance March 31 after 12th Circuit Judge Andrew Owens transferred the case.

Holmes Beach police arrested Rattelade in February after he ran a red light, gave false information to an officer and was allegedly found possessing marijuana, paraphernalia and four tramadol and four alprazolam pills.

On March 15, the state had reduced a felony controlled substance charge against Rattelade to a misdemeanor legend drug charge.

Drug court is an alternative program used by the 12th circuit criminal court to reduce jail population and educate and treat alleged offenders.

Participants waive their right to a speedy trial, submit to drug tests and must appear in court as scheduled.
