Devon Straight of Wildlife Inc. holds a fawn April 13 after rescuing the deer in Sarasota. The fawn and its mother were near a construction site when the mother, scared off by a dog, abandoned the fawn. According to Ed Straight of Wildlife Inc., it’s unlikely the mother would have returned for the fawn. The one week-old fawn is being kept at Wildlife’s rehab facility in Bradenton Beach for six weeks, when it will be moved to a larger facility. The animal will be released in September in Lakeland.
