Jeffrey D. Strickland, 57, of Inverness, was arrested May 24 for allegedly driving under the influence in the 5400 block of Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach.
Holmes Beach Police Officer Alan Bores saw Strickland driving without headlights and crossing into the bike lane in the 5200 block of Gulf Drive just after 11 p.m.
After stopping him, Bores observed the odor of alcohol on Strickland and conducted field sobriety testing. Strickland allegedly said he was coming from a bar.
Strickland was taken to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, where he refused a breath test and declined to answer questions.
He was transported to Manatee County jail and held on a $500 bond. Strickland also was charged with failing to drive in a single lane and driving without headlights. He was released May 25.
Strickland’s arraignment was set for 8:30 a.m. Monday, June 27, at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
