Anna Maria
May 1, Anna Maria City Pier, 100 S. Bay Blvd., leak. A bait shop employee called for help with water shooting from a soda line. A Manatee County sheriff’s deputy arrived and saw the water was damaging equipment. The deputy found a water valve at the base of the pier and shut it off. A plumber arrived and fixed the problem.

Bradenton Beach
May 7, Coquina Park, 2650 Gulf Drive S., burglary. An unknown person inscribed profanity with a key on a parked vehicle. A 17-year-old from Fort Meade told police she’d left a wallet, containing $60 and identification, in the vehicle for several hours. She could not remember if she locked the car. When the teen returned, she found the profanity on the passenger door and her wallet missing. Bradenton Beach police observed no sign of a forced entry.
May 7, Circle K, 103 Gulf Drive N., theft. A straw hat and poncho blanket valued at $12.99 were reported stolen. A witness reported a woman walked out of the store without paying for the items. Police canvassed the area and did not locate a suspect.
May 7-9, 2400 block of Avenue C, criminal mischief. Wooden stairs leading to a second floor apartment were found damaged as if they had been kicked or struck. The landlord had them repaired. A day later, the stairs were damaged again.
May 9, Bridge Tender Inn & Dockside Bar, 135 Bridge St., disorderly intoxication and opposing officer. A 25-year-old man was observed at 1:16 a.m. yelling while talking on a cellphone. A police officer shined a flashlight on him as he boarded a boat tied to the dock. The officer asked him to step off the dock. The man wanted the officer to talk to someone on his phone. The officer refused and the man became belligerent and tried to shove the phone into the officer’s face. The officer used pepper spray and arrested the man. He was transported him to the police station and Manatee County jail.

Cortez
May 2, 12500 block of Cortez Road West, burglary. An unknown person boarded a 17-foot boat and stole fishing gear valued at $300-$400.

Holmes Beach
April 30, The Feast, 5406 Marina Drive, defrauding innkeeper. A juvenile ordered ice tea and firecracker shrimp, sat outside and ate it. After he finished, he left without paying his $14.89 check. The manager stopped him in the parking lot. Holmes Beach Police Department arrived and transported him to the police station, called his parents in Palm Harbor and completed paperwork for his referral.
May 3, Publix Super Market, 3900 E. Bay Drive, trespassing and larceny. A 56-year-old man was observed stealing two four-packs of beer two hours before the manager reported the incident. The man had been in the store twice during the day and employees told him he’d been trespassed. The man, identified as homeless, claimed the warning occurred more than a year earlier. HBPD responded determined the warning was active, requested a warrant for the man’s arrest for theft and a trespass after warning.
May 5, Manatee Public Beach, 4000 Gulf Drive, theft. A suspect in a May 3 theft was observed sitting at a trolley stop in front of Publix and boarding a trolley. The officer followed the trolley to the Manatee Public Beach and arrested the man for theft and transported him to jail. He was assigned a $2,000 bond, a public defender and June 3 court date.
