Holmes Beach police apprehended a 15-year-old male who allegedly stole a tip jar from the Anna Maria Island Beach Cafe.
An employee chased the suspect, who fled on foot from the cafe at the Manatee Public Beach, 4000 Gulf Drive.
Holmes Beach police joined the chase after a code enforcement officer reported the suspect running near Publix Super Market, 3900 E. Bay Drive, and Bank of America, 699 Manatee Ave.
Officer Steve Ogline observed the suspect crash through the hedges between the bank and the adjacent professional offices, into a field.
Ogline commanded the suspect to stop, but as the suspect continued to run, Ogline pulled him to the ground.
HBPD reported a surveillance camera had captured the theft at the cafe.
The 15-year-old was arrested and booked as a juvenile for obstruction and theft.
The tip jar was found and reported by an employee of LaPensee Plumbing, Pools & Air, 401 Manatee Ave.
It contained $37.15.
