A 42-year-old man living in an upstairs unit above Agnelli Construction in Holmes Beach was arrested for stealing a 2008 Ford F-250 belonging to the contractor.
Damian C. Toto was arrested May 2 for felony grand theft after a surveillance video led Holmes Beach police to question two people, according to police.
A video showed a man and woman leaving an apartment at 6000 Marina Drive, a male entering the vehicle and a female walking away.
The report stated the landlord for the property, Benjamin ten Haaf, confirmed the identity of the male as his tenant.
Upon police questioning, Toto allegedly confessed to taking the vehicle keys from a container inside the building common area and driving the truck, valued at $15,000-$20,000, to Palmetto, where he sold it for cocaine. Toto told police he picked up the woman on a nearby street in Holmes Beach and he and the woman stole the vehicle.
Manatee County Sheriff’s Office recovered the vehicle in Palmetto and returned it to the owner, Frank Agnelli.
Toto was arrested at his Marina Drive apartment and transported to Manatee County jail. He posted a $1,500 bond and was released.
In another case in 12th Circuit Court, Toto is charged with trespass to a residence and burglary of an unoccupied vehicle. He allegedly entered an unlocked home and vehicle March 1 in the 4900 block of 23rd Street West in Bradenton.
Toto’s first court date on the Holmes Beach theft is set at 9 a.m. Friday, June 3, at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
