One year without driving privileges was part of a repeat violator’s sentence for driving under the influence and without a license in Holmes Beach.
Mark Shepler, 56, of Bradenton, was found guilty and sentenced May 3 after he pleaded no contest to the charges. He also was found guilty of driving with an unassigned tag.
Shepler was assessed more than $3,000 in fines and court costs.
The Holmes Beach Police Department arrested Shepler in an East Bay Drive parking lot after his sports car was observed almost hitting street signs and telephone poles on southbound on Gulf Drive. He told police he’d drunk a half bottle of vodka.
In addition to revoking Shepler’s driver’s license, 12th Circuit Judge Mark Singer ordered 75 hours of public service work, DUI school, a victim-impact panel, 10 months probation and credit for time served. A mental health evaluation and treatment, if necessary, was ordered.
According to HBPD Officer Mike Walker’s affidavit, Shepler’s license had been suspended seven previous times.
He was convicted of driving under the influence in January 2008, according to Manatee County court records.
