Restored beaches survive Colin

People run for cover during the June 6 tropical storm event at the Manatee Public Beach. During high tide at about 12:30 p.m., it appeared almost half of the beach was under water. Manatee County Parks and Natural Resources Director Charlie Hunsicker said the true effects of the storm wouldn’t be known until later this summer. “The beach did its work to protect property and public infrastructure,” he said, adding a full assessment of the beaches would be done later in the summer.
