A 19-year-old man was stopped July 1 at 3:34 a.m. while driving in Holmes Beach and traveling into a bicycle lane.
Ticketed for violating the .02 law against underage drinking and driving, Lorenzo Alvarez III of Myakka City was pulled over in the 5200 block of Gulf Drive by Holmes Beach Police Officer Alan Bores.
Alvarez told the officer he had “two beers” at a friend’s house and provided a breath sample measuring 0.147.
He was cited and his vehicle was towed.
Violators of the 0.02 law receive a six-month driver’s license suspension.
For a breath or blood-alcohol content measuring more than 0.05, state law extends the suspension until a violator completes a substance abuse evaluation and course.
Alvarez also was ticketed for failing to drive in a designated lane.
