July 14, trespass, 100 block of Tern Drive. A man reported his vehicle taken without permission. The car was subsequently returned to the owner.
July 17, 100 block of South Bay Boulevard, information. Beach’N Rides & Rentals reported an electrical vehicle and parking sign damaged. Anna Maria’s city public works department was notified.
July 17, 200 block of Spring Avenue, disturbance. An owner was issued a citation for a dog on the beach.
Anna Maria is policed by the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
Bradenton Beach
July 20, Cortez Beach, 500 Gulf Drive, S., vehicle burglary. A van owner returned to a vehicle and found the windows smashed by a blunt object. Her driver’s license and baseball bat were reported stolen, while other valuables remained in the van.
July 22, Cortez Beach, 500 Gulf Drive S., property damage. An officer responded to a call about juveniles trespassing on an erosion groin and when leaving the beach, his vehicle ran over a $100 cellphone.

Cortez
June 21, 12400 block of Baypointe Terrace, fraud. Identity theft was reported after a woman received a notice from a collection agency about a communications company bill that wasn’t hers.
July 15, 4200 block of 126th Street West, information. Unknown people tampered with a GPS monitor. The cover was removed but no damage was found.

Holmes Beach
June 12, Manatee Public Beach, 4000 Gulf Drive, theft. Two women from Gibsonton and Valrico reported their bags, containing cellphones and identification cards, stolen after returning from the water at about 5 p.m. A Holmes Beach police officer asked a man to check the area with a metal detector. The detector located most of the missing property, buried 2 feet in the sand. A cellphone and $60 were not found.
July 17, 6300 block of Marina Drive, criminal mischief. Multiple mailbox damages were observed and reported by an officer beginning at about 4800 Gulf Drive and continuing sporadically north to the 6800 block of Palm Drive. Damage in excess of $1,000 was estimated by the Holmes Beach Police Department.
July 18, 6200 block of Marina Drive, criminal mischief. A woman reported her mailbox missing. It was located through a neighbor, who found and collected it for safekeeping.
July 20, 4900 block of Gulf Drive, criminal mischief. A homeowner returned from out of town and found his mailbox destroyed.
July 19, 300 block of 74th Street, burglary. During a routine house check, an officer found a back door unlocked, pry marks and the sliding door off the track. The office called for backup and the house was cleared. It was determined a rifle and a revolver were missing. Latent prints were lifted from the scene.
