After several weeks of searching for a clerk, Anna Maria Mayor Dan Murphy made a decision.
On Aug. 4, the mayor offered candidate LeAnne Addy the position of city clerk and, Aug. 5, she accepted.
Murphy presented his recommendation Aug. 11 to the city commission for approval and commissioners unanimously approved.
She will begin work the week of Sept. 4.
The mayor’s employment offer includes a $69,000 annual salary and $2,000 for relocation expenses. She will be placed on a six-month probationary period.
“I consider it a great privilege to join such a dynamic team of professionals,” Addy wrote in an email to city clerk Diane Percycoe.
After the commission vote, Addy said, “I want you all to know I’m very honored to be offered the position of city clerk. I look forward to working with all of you.”
Addy currently resides in Minnesota and works in Wisconsin. She will be relocating with her husband and teenage daughter.
During the initial round of interviews, three of five candidates invited to interview in Anna Maria withdrew their applications, leaving Addy and former Bradenton Beach city clerk Jamie Anderson.
Murphy extended the application deadline to Aug. 1, because he was not comfortable making a decision after only two interviews.
The mayor invited two more candidates to interview. What tipped the scale among all four candidates, was likely Addy’s experience in finance, having served 2008-15 as financial director of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.
Percycoe is retiring at the end of September and will train Addy in the position until her departure.
Addy is in the process of completing a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. She expects to receive her degree in May 2017.
