Emma S. Cayo
Emma S. Cayo, 80, of Holmes Beach, died Aug 15.
Born in Cuba, she moved to Holmes Beach in 1986 from Lakeland and attended St. Bernard Catholic Church.

She is survived by sons Angelo B. of Holmes Beach and Luis A. of Simi Valley, California; daughter Rosemarie “Romy” of Bradenton and two grandchildren.
Donald L. Pike
The flag at city hall in Bradenton Beach was lowered to half mast in honor of Donald L. Pike Aug. 18-21. Pike, 91, of Bradenton and formerly of Janesville, Wisconsin, died Aug. 18. He was born March 31, 1925.
He was a veteran who served in the Navy during World War II as a machinist mate first class in the South Pacific from 1946-1946. He also served as master sergeant in the U.S. Army 1946-54 during the Korean Conflict.
Upon completion of his military service, he went to work for the Rock County Sheriff’s Department and also served as the civil defense director in Janesville.
He moved to Bradenton in 1973 and joined the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. He subsequently worked for the Bradenton Beach Police Department as a patrolman and served as chief of police 1973-79. He also worked for the Longboat Key Police Department as patrolman/detective and as a detective sergeant for the Holmes Beach Police Department. He completed his law enforcement career at the MCSO, serving civil and criminal warrants until his retirement in 1996.
After retirement, he worked part time as a ranger/starter at Waterlefe Golf Club until 2012, when he retired a final time.
He was a motorcycle enthusiast, safety instructor and a member of numerous motorcycle clubs. He traveled the country well into his 80s with his late son and grandson in pursuit of his hobby.
He was a life member of the Gold Wing Riders Association and Elks Lodge No. 1511. He also was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 70 and AARP.
Memorial donations may be made to Florida Sheriff Youth Ranches, Moffitt Cancer Center or Tidewell Hospice.
He is survived by long-time companion Lois Mulnix, daughters Cheryl and Kristine and granddaughter Kim, all of Bradenton; grandson Stephen of Tampa; granddaughter Ashley of Trinity; half-sister Mary Alyce Paul of New Smyrna Beach; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
