Sept. 2, 100 block of Crescent Drive, information. Three witnesses observed a driver in a pickup on a barricaded street. The street had been closed to vehicle traffic by the city of Anna Maria due to flooding. A woman told a deputy she was concerned about vehicles pushing water into homes.
Sept. 3, Anna Maria City Pier, 100 S. Bay Blvd., alcohol violation. Three men were issued city citations for possessing alcohol on the pier.
Anna Maria is policed by the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
Bradenton Beach
Sept. 12, Cortez Beach, 500 Gulf Drive, theft. A woman reported leaving her belongings on the beach unattended to watch the sunset. When she returned, her bag, containing an iPad valued at $300, wallet, $25 and keys, were gone.
Sept. 13, Katie Pierola Park, 2200 Gulf Drive N., alcohol violation/trespass. Bradenton Beach police responded to a complaint of two men drinking alcohol. When they arrived, the officers saw them drinking beer, with their empty containers in a box and a 12-pack of Natural Light nearby in a cooler. The cooler and beer were seized as evidence. The men were issued tickets for the alcohol and trespass warnings. The officer advised the men they could get the cooler back after paying the tickets.

Holmes Beach
Sept. 4, 100 block of 46th Street and the beach, alcohol violation. Police issued two people alcohol violations. A 20-year-old woman told police she’d brought alcohol to the beach in a water bottle and the man agreed, saying he was intoxicated.
Sept. 4, Manatee Public Beach, 4000 Gulf Drive, battery. An 8-year-old boy reported he was punched by a lady who’d left the beach. Family members directed police to a vehicle in the beach parking lot. Holmes Beach police officers asked the vehicle occupants if anyone had hit the boy. A female teenager allegedly responded, “I did.” She told police she’d hit the boy after he threw sticks and hit her. HBPD sent a request to the state attorney’s office to issue a charge.
Sept. 5, Hurricane Liquors, 5344 Gulf Drive, theft. A man and his accomplice allegedly stole a 17.5 liter of Bacardi rum, valued at $24.99. Officers responded to a shoplifting-in-progress call and questioned the man about the “ice-cold” bottle in his bag. The two men were arrested for the theft and booked at the Manatee County jail. They also were issued trespass warnings from the store.
Sept. 5, 2900 block of Avenue E, criminal mischief. An outdoor sculpture valued at $500 was vandalized.
Sept. 5, 100 block of 45th Street and the beach, alcohol violation. Two males were consuming beer on the beach. Each was issued a citation.
Sept. 6, 500 block of 56th Street, theft. A decal registration tag was reported stolen from a vehicle.
Sept. 8, 3300 block of East Bay Drive, camping violation. A man was reported sleeping in a chair. HBPD responded, issued a citation for the ordinance violation and drove the man off the island.
Sept. 9, Manatee Public Beach, 4000 Gulf Drive, alcohol violation. Two people were sitting at a picnic table at the south end of the beach. One was observed in possession of an alcoholic beverage and was ticketed.
Sept. 10, West Coast Surf Shop, 3902 Gulf Drive, theft. A security alarm sounded and a store clerk asked a person to return to the store. The man came back, pulled a hat and wallet valued at $46.88 from of his swimsuit and dropped the items on the floor. Holmes Beach police arrested the man for theft.
