A Chevy SUV passing a vehicle in a Holmes Beach no-passing zone led police to stop the driver.
Stephanie Nabozny, 30, of Grand Island, New York, was pulled over at 11:30 p.m. Aug. 7 in the 3700 block of Gulf Drive by Holmes Beach Police Officer Alan Bores.
The officer asked how much alcohol she’d consumed and Nabozny allegedly replied, she “had a couple.”
According to Bores’ report, Nabozny told police she was heading to a rental unit after visiting the Sarasota dog track and Bores advised her she was traveling in the opposite direction.
The report stated Bores conducted field sobriety tests and arrested Nabozny based on the results.
The officer transported Nabozny to the Manatee County jail, where she provided breath samples measuring 0.186, 0.165 and 0.176 blood-alcohol content.
She posted a $500 bond and was released.
The state attorney filed charges of DUI with 0.15 or higher with a prior conviction.
On Nabozny’s behalf, Sarasota attorney Hillary Johnson filed a not-guilty plea and a waiver of appearances.
Nabozny’s arraignment is set at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
