Two Indianapolis men were arrested for burglaries at the Anna Maria Island Beach Cafe and Island Bazaar.
Andrew J. Montgomery, 19, and Jacob W. Thomas, 18, were arrested Oct. 7 in the 5200 block of Gulf Drive by Holmes Beach Police Detective Sgt. Brian Hall.
Three days after the business burglaries, the two males were taken into custody when an HBPD officer conducting radar at 1:12 a.m. saw two men matching suspect photos from the burglaries walking north on Gulf Drive, according to an HBPD report.
Police reported Montgomery and Thomas are shown in a surveillance tape at 8 p.m. Oct. 4 searching a thatched hut and pulling out a cash register at the cafe at the Manatee Public Beach, 4000 Gulf Drive.
The pair also face charges of criminal mischief for a damaged cash drawer discovered the next morning. No money was reported missing.
The same night Montgomery and Thomas targeted a truck behind Island Bazaar in the Anna Maria Island Centre shopping plaza at 3304 E. Bay Drive, according to HBPD.
Montgomery and Thomas allegedly broke into a truck owned by the business. No damage or missing items were reported.
The two men are suspects in other Oct. 4 incidents of criminal mischief and burglary.
Hall said two males were reported on a dock and rummaging in a black Lexus at Sunbow Bay complex, 3705 E. Bay Drive. Police found identification cards belonging to a man in the 4100 block of Sixth Avenue and the owner of the black Lexus while investigating broken lights on the dock.
HBPD sent requests to the state attorney to charge the two men on the Lexus and dock light cases.
After their arrest Oct. 7, Montgomery and Thomas were transported to the Manatee County jail. They each posted $9,120 in bonds and were released.
Court arraignments for the men are set at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
