A sign listing penalties for feeding alligators stands west of the Cortez Bridge in Bradenton Beach. The sign likely was replaced when a retention pond was abandoned, according to Robin Stublen, public information officer for the Florida Department of Transportation Bartow District. Stublen said the DOT “has no record of the sign.” He said the only alligator warning signs the DOT uses are “yellow with a black silhouette of an alligator,” and any other signs were placed by another agency an individual.
